April Tea SetA Little History

The National Shelley China Club (NSCC) is a collectors club founded in 1990. A small group of Shelley lovers and collectors living in the Pacific Northwest began meeting to share information and their love of Shelley pottery and fine bone china produced in England during the period of the late 1800's to the mid 1900's. From this humble beginning, the club has grown to over 200 members in the United States and six countries around the world.

In November 2015, the club celebrated its 25th Anniversary.  In commemoration of this event, a detailed history of the club was distributed to the attendees.  A copy of that document may be viewed here

So why do we collect? Perhaps Shelley's advertising department provides the best response:

Good taste appreciates the beauty of Shelley China, and a Shelley tea set speaks of quality in every graceful line, in purity of colour (a secret three generations old) and in the featherweight lightness which combines with unsuspected strength. Afternoon tea in china so exquisite has that note of modern splendour which every lady desires.

2024 Dallas Conference Content

Our 2024 Conference was a rousing success. From High Tea on Thursday afternoon through the gala banquet on Sunday night, a good time was had by all. We hope to have a picture gallery up soon. In the meantime, feel free to browse the presentations made for attendees by clicking on the image below. Due to limitations imposed by the copyright owner, Carolyn Keating's presentation, Indian Tree on Wileman and Shelley, is not available on the internet.

2025 International Zoom Meetings

The next International Zoom meeting will be held on Friday 19 September 2025, 4PM Eastern 1PM Pacific

The September Zoom meeting will be hosted by the UK Shelley Group with a presentation by Julie Stevenson. Full details below.

Hope to see you there.

Subject:
The Ripon Horn Blower and other Shelley stories. How my collection started and where I think it’s going.

In less than three years, Julie Stevenson’s Shelley collection grew from a single piece of Harmony to a private curated exhibition of a broad range of Shelley and Wileman pieces at Peterborough Cathedral. In this presentation, Julie will share how and why her collecting began, how she has developed her collection to date and how she selected the pieces to display at the exhibition. The items from that display will be discussed and members will be encouraged to talk about the piece of Shelley that means the most to them.
